Is The Dispensary Arugambay really open 24 hours?
Yes — we are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, all year round. Walk in any time, no appointment needed. The one exception is Friday, when we close briefly from about 11:00 to 14:30 for Jumu'ah prayers.
Do I need an appointment?
No. We are a walk-in clinic. Just come to Panama Road in Arugam Bay any time.
Do you handle travel insurance?
Yes — we facilitate insurance. We issue itemised, English-language receipts and medical documentation so you can claim your consultation, medicines, tests, and treatment from your travel insurer. Just ask at reception and tell us what your policy needs.
Do you speak English?
Yes. Our staff speak English, Sinhala, and Tamil fluently, and we use translation tools for other languages.
How much does a consultation cost?
Care in Sri Lanka is far cheaper than in most Western countries. Please call for current rates. Consultations and pharmacy items are charged at standard local rates. Cash and card accepted. We issue itemised English-language receipts for travel insurance claims.
What can you treat?
Fevers, dengue testing, reef cuts, jellyfish stings, sea urchin spines, food poisoning, heat exhaustion, animal bites, IV drips for dehydration, wound stitching, tetanus shots, prescription refills, and much more. For life-threatening emergencies call 1990 for the free national ambulance first.
